CAI tube material

Hey...

I'm thinking about getting a CAI/Tune. I'm leaning towards Brenspeed for the package. (Or would the AM/Bamachips combo be better?)

For a total daily driver, I was wondering if the CAI material really makes much of a difference? Aluminum (C&L), plastic...carbon fiber...? I know about heat soak, but will it really impact performance? Would carbon fiber be the best choice for heat soak? I know it looks cool (JLT carbon).

Also, which 3 tunes should I get? I have access to 93, 94 and some Sunoco stations by me have race gas. LOL

ANY INTAKE MADE OF METAL/ALUMINUM WILL INCREASE YOUR INTAKE TEMPS, ALOT!! In many real world/un-biased tests by many magazines the JLT has almost always been far superior for the 05-10 Stangs.... Beware of any "NO TUNE NEEDED" intakes from other companies... if there is no tune required that simply means the computer doesnt see any added air getting into the engine.. A.K.A. its pointless and you arent gonna get any additional power!! Basically just make sure u get a non-metal material CAI that DOES require a tune.. you'll be happy you did so...TRUST ME!!

You might want to get an 87 or 91 tune, if your car is a DD or you plan on making trips far from home. 93-94 octane is not available in some states.

either tuner is good, I have bamachips and his JLT/93 race tune picked up 6 tenths in the quarter for me which is HUGE for just an intake and retune, also plastic does not absorb heat like metal does so technically it will perform better however if you go with a good intake like the C&L I think you would be equally satisfied.

I got the jlt cai combo from brenspeed and cut a half second off my 1320 times with an auto trans. The car was night and day better than stock. And when you purchase your sct from brenspeed (maybe am bama too ?) you will get free upgraded tunes when you purchase more gofast parts that need a new tune. As far as three tunes, I have never used anything other than the 92 octane tune. Why bother IMO?

Either tuner and you will be grinning!!!!!

Suggest that you base your CAI selection on the one which appeals to you the most from a reputable manufacturer(the 2 that are mentioned in previous posts here fall into this category), and not on the type of material that it's made from.
The velocity of the inlet air thru a CAI is so fast that even at idle it doesn't have sufficient time to absorb any detrimental amount of heat from the CAI's interior wall.

I just filled up the car with 89 today in Michigan. $45.00 I think it was. Looks like gas prices are going up again (for no good reason, per usual).

Does a CAI help with fuel economy as long as you keep your right foot out of it?

I have on some new OEM GT500 tires/wheels...and I notice that it's a little more difficult to chirp those 285s out back with my current stock HP setup. LOL. Might need to get that CAI/tune...

I'm leaning towards a JLT carbon and Brenspeed tune package...when the time comes.
