Hi Everyone,

Just bought my first Mustang, a new to me 2007 Shelby GT. I love it so far and I am looking forward to being a part of the community.

My issue is that I went to get it smogged, and I failed due to the EGR being removed/tampered with. After doing a ton of research, it looks like the 3v 4.6 does not have EGR. I tried to explain this to the smog tech, and he pointed to my Emission label under the hood, where it has EGR listed.

Could this be an error, or were the Shelby GTs made a little differently? I am leaning toward an error, as I looked at every engine bay picture I could find of a Shelby GT and could not see an EGR valve. Also, every manual I downloaded or parts catalog has no mention of EGR for the 2007 GT.

Any help would be appreciated. I am attaching a picture of the label. Thank you.

Yes. You at least [had] and EGR at some point, even if it's not there now.

Check this out:

Shelby couldn't remove it even if they wanted to unless... They were putting out cars not suitable for road use.

Thank you for your help. Looking at a bunch of normal GTs and searching through threads I find people saying 3v 4.6 no longer have EGR.
I found a bunch of examples on Bring a trailer of the same engine bay and could not spot any differences between mine, other Shelby GTs and other normal GTs with respect to the EGR.

Here are a few pictures of a normal GT

other threads for reference as well. This rabit hole I'm going in is deep lol. I even found VEIC labels from same-year GTs that have no mention of EGR.

The label attached is also from a 2007 GT.

Take a look at this:

Click through the variants listed in the top/left corner of the screen and try to determine which of these applies to your engine.

Two of them list EGR valves while the other two do not.

I do not see where an EGR is [indicated] of any of those tags. Do you?

Also I have found that workshop manual and there is no EGR listed in the label but if you like at the components list on the next page its listed on two of them which are Automatic variants according to other sources but not totally sure.

That is consistent with the info in the links above. The CDC2 and CDC3.

Now, the question is: How do you differentiate one from the other and figure out which you have?

Yes it’s manual.

Everything I am reading shows that the 3v never had egr which puts me in this bind.

I was failed for “removing egr components” that never existed.

Spoke to a state ref and now they are saying I need to install it or it’s possible my engine was changed and they want to treat it as an engine swap all because the emission label list egr.

This looks like a mistake of labeling on Shelby’s end.
