Cali Members, Get in Here! - Smog issue with possible error on 2007 Shelby GT Emissions label failed due to EGR

Yes it’s manual.

Everything I am reading shows that the 3v never had egr which puts me in this bind.

I was failed for “removing egr components” that never existed.

Spoke to a state ref and now they are saying I need to install it or it’s possible my engine was changed and they want to treat it as an engine swap all because the emission label list egr.

This looks like a mistake of labeling on Shelby’s end.

Yeah, this is all bull:poo:.

If it did not come from the factory with it, you do not need it. Some needle-head at the ref station doesn't get to make those decisions.

Go to or call a Ford Dealership Service Center. Ask them about this issue. This has to have happened before.

Has this car been registered in this state, before?

I'm going to drop this link here as it may become relevant, later: https://www.bar.ca.gov/consumer/smog-check-program

I used to live an Cali (a long time ago). Smog was a PITA then and I understand it's even worse now, however, there are methods for sending the misfit bureaucrats beck to whatever holes they crawled out of. The nuclear option is to go to the South Dakota DMV website and checkout how to register your car there. You need not be a resident.

This is the label off one of my 05s ,does not show a EGR ,you may have to try a different smog station ,not sure if A ford Dealer can do it but that may be the way to go ,these smog stations are about as worthless as California DMV

Thank you everyone!

Looks like this mislabel of "EGR" only is on the Shelby GT.

I contacted Ford and they are putting in a request for a compliance letter that should state everything my car should have for emissions based on the vin.

As it stands currently I have my Fail for EGR tampering and the State Ref is siding with the smog tech and assumes my engine must have been replaced :cautious:.

I hope Ford support follows through with that later, and it will hopefully show that EGR is not listed.

I am surprised this has not happened to any other Shelby GT owners in California.

I'm certain that it probably has. Three things need to be true:

The have to have a Shelby GT
They have to be in Cali
They have to be a member here for us to hear about it.

That's why you're here. :D

Hopefully, this will get it worked out. That's a lot of garbage for a [sticker]. :notnice:
