I'm from california, and I will be flying out to Texas to buy my first Cobra, a 1998 black on black beauty. I have read that one of the options from the factory was a california emissions system. Will I need to do anything to get the car registered in california?

if its a 50 state car all you need to do is get it smogged in california and take the slip to the dmv, they will inspect it and register it, you should make sure it has the smog stuff on, ie cats, because texas doesnt have smog laws

It should have the cats on it and everything. The only exhaust mod is a pair of welded in flowmaster mufflers. I'll have to check to be sure though. If not... well, I'll work something out.

Ok, after talking to AAA, I'm pretty sure everything will be fine. Apparantly there used to be a 330 charge to bring in an out-of-state car, but they got rid of that recently. All I need to do is get it smogged to meet national standards, and I'm set.

of course texas has smog laws...

You have to have cats on the vehicle or you won't pass inspection (unless the shop can be persuaded :D ). But there's more than a few "tree hugger patrols" roaming around handing out tickets for smog violations.
