Hey guys... im kind of at a stand still with my Cobra, not sure what to do next (except buy new tires). Im just curious as to what mods you guys have and what hp/tq 1/4 times you have. My mods and hp are in my sig. I havent driven the car yet with the gears but with my stock 3.08's i was playing catch-up to LS1's but staying ahead of LT1's and newer GT's... my short term goal is to hang witht LS1's, what do you guys think i need. (please dont say higher gears! :) ) Thanks for feeding my curiosity! :nice:

first off you should install an alum. drive shaft with the gears. cause i dealt will vibrations at 70 mph, and the shifter felt like an out of control vibrating dildo at 100 mph. now that you dealt with the rear now work your way up front. and the next step depends on your cash flow. pullies are an inexpensive way to gain some ponies.
if you have some cash to burn so to speak. save up for performance heads, cam, intake manifold. but like i said all depends on your $$$ cash flow.

i have a 95 svt. with 3:73 alum drive shaft, mac off road h-pipe and magna packs cat back. now for what i have thats not installed, performance heads, cam, roller rockers, timeing chain, shorty headers, and pullies. now i have to save up for intake manifold and other nic naks. but yesterday i decide on also buying a new block. which one i don't know. have to wait and see

First you have to decide what to use the car for. Daily driving with aggressive street use or 1/4 mile at a time. If you have a hankering for both, see my sig. No real dyno #'s, but I did use a horsepower program my brother in law got and it said 396@flywheel for my car. Sounds high to me, but it would be nice! :D

I drive the Cobra in the summer when its not raining. I take it to car cruises and have never been to the track, but have G-teched her with a 14.1 quarter mile. She is also about 600 miles short of 100,000. Last summer she got all new plugs/wires/sensors/EGR/fuel reg/fuel filter/t-stat/tranny fluid/brake rotors/brake pads/coolant/ect. This spring im putting in the 3.73's, speed cal and alum. drive shaft. After that i need to buy new tires all around, on both cars.
What i really want is 300+ hp/tq and about a second or more quicker 1/4... but i have no asperation to have a full out drag car or anything like that, im wondering if i should save for a crate motor, or rebuild the 302, or buy a stroker or something. Down the road im probably gonna do like a complete suspension job, paint job ect, but thats when i have a "real" job and im out of college. (im 21 by the way). Thanks for the imput guys!

I got 255 RWHP & 310 RWTQ on my 94 Cobra with FRPP shorty headers, Bassani X with cats, Flowmaster catback, 3.73 gears, Pro M 77 maf meter, FRPP extender, underdrive pullies, home made CAI, Crane hi6 ignition & timing at 14 degrees. That is about all the bolt ons that can be put on, + TB.
IMO, if you are wanting more, then heads, intake & cam would be the best way, besides a power adder.
For most power, get long tube headers. Larger MAF meter & TB.
You need 75 hp to get to your goal of 300 and bolt ons will not get you there. You will need better heads to get there.

I always think of something to buy, and then think of something else, and on and on... a while back i was going to get a MAF calibrated for 24lb injectors, probably 75mm or whatever... but then i always think, is it worth spending 150+ bux for minimal gains, if any... i mean, the mods ive done (exhaust/CAI) are like the principal mods everyone does when they get their stang. The other mods ive done are visual mods which net 0 gains, but make my car "my" car... however i don't plan on any more "looks" mods. I dunno, sometimes i feel like just saving for a new motor and total suspension upgrades, but every time i get on the message boards and leaf through the magazines and go cruising in the summer, i feel like im being left behind in a hobby i love so much. I have to realize sometimes that im 21, paying for college, working 40 hours a week and getting paid crap, but you guys all know how it is... SO, basically im just hoping to see what "cheap" mods you guys have done, how much power your getting from it, as well as some of the more costly mods that i know are out of my range now, and what i am working towards.

I had a 93' cobra and these were my mods which helped me run 13.01@107mph on motor alone and regular radials. One thing ford did different with the cobra's is they used a 65mm tb on the 93's but not on the 94-95'. You may want to start there.

Stock Gt-40's with a $300 port/clean up job
Extrude honed upper intake
Port matched lower
75mm pro-m bullet
E303 cam
Motorsport shoties (unequal)
21/2'' hpipe
Flowmaster catback
3.55's

These mods gave me an awesome car that ran good but was very reliable.

For NA go with AFR 165 heads. For blown go with an s-trim. For a cheap gain go with underdrive pullies. I've done a lot of the bolt ons so now im going to try some nitrous :) i bet ill be going with some AFR's and a cam in the future.

I'll throw my 295rwhp combo up here for you.

AFR 165's
FRPP 'B' cam (go with 'E' or custom)
Stock cobra intakes
Stock 65mm t/b
Stock 70mm MAF (de-posted)
FRPP headers
MAC pro-chamber
Flowmaster 3 chambers

Car has ran a best of 12.8@108 on motor and 11.57@118 with 150 shot

I would like to add that I had to use my tweecer to get up to 295rwhp. Before EEC tuning I was only putting down around 284-285 rwhp.

When my Cobra was stock I laid down 265rwhp & 308rwtq and ran a best of 12.97 @ 106.15 on drag radials.
This was w/ the stock longblock untouched w/ 100,000 miles on it.
I could of got the times a little lower but Vortech was callin me!:p
