A friend is selling his E cam for 100 bucks with timing chain. (or atleast its supposed to be an e cam) Is this a good cam for this car? Its got at most 3000 miles on it. Is this worth it? I cant find the E cam on jegs or anything so i don't know how much they are new. Is this a good street cam? I would still need to pass emission. Or is there a better one i can get? My setup as of right now is stock heads stock cam cobra intake. If i could choose i would have a rough idleing cam, and still some good low end. Ive heard this one run and its pretty lumpy. ANyway what do you guys think of this?

Look on the end of the cam, you will see where there are numbers/ letters printed into it, if it is an E then it will say E-303.

Is the timing chain used? On that, I would just buy a new one if it is not new now. Comp Cams Timing set is only like $40 new from Summit.

I think the E and B cams go for about $159, the F, X, and Z (Although I have not seen the Z advertised lately) are like $189 I think. I have an X I am trying to sell on the website in my sig, I think I have it at like $125 or so, so yeah, $100 aint a bad deal for an E. You can't really wear out a roller cam to bad, so it should be ok. Although, depending on what you want to do with the car, I might go with the B cam. Still emissions legal, has a bit more lope to it, and works great N/A. Do you have an auto or stick?

OH. One big thing i forgot about. My car is a 1987. So i am still speed density. And ive heard you can't run that big of a cam on speed denisty. I'd need a mass air sensor.

I have seen guys get away with a B cam with speed density. There is a guy in our club that has an '87 GT T-top that has a B cam. Ran it for a long time getting 13.50's out of it with a stock block, Typhoon intake, and a B cam. He had slight drivability issues cruising at low speeds, but nothing bad. He eventually changed to MA, but not for a while. If you are going to change the heads though, you'd probably need mass air for anything more than stock ported E-7's.

If he is selling the cam and timing chain as a package for $100, do it. I would still order a new timing chain set though. Like I said, for $40-$50, it is good insurance!
