Cam application: x-cam or lunati

with 1.6 rr or 1.72 rrs?
why the lunati?

What about duration and lobe seperation....I cant find any info on this Lunati cam....even if it is obsolete. It appears to be a popular chevy size.

You can check the distance between valve spring coils while the spring is compressed with a feeler gauge. To do this the cam has to be installed. Turn the engine using a ratchet or breaker bar on the crank. Turn the engine a full 2 rotations (720 degrees). IF THE ENGINE WON'T TURN DON'T FORCE IT!! Your probably bangin pistons and valves together.

If the engine turns you should be able to slide a feeler gauge thru a spring that is completely compressed. You should be able to a .01inch thru at least 2 or 3 of the coils.

You need to take the cam to a machine shop and get the lift, duration, and overlap specs. Or just look it up if it has a part or grind number on it.

If it is a big cam you will have to replace the springs.

Now back to my topic.
