I am in the build stages of my 347 project and i just found out the cam i have for the engine will not work. It is an Edelbrock performer rpm cam 1500-6500 rpm that i thought would work great with my edelbrock performer rpm 2 intake but the firing order for the cam is not the HO firing order. So my question to you guys is what cam should i go with. I would like to have a 1500-6500 power band and an awsome sound at idle. So should i spend the cash and get a cam made for me and if so how much are they or should i get some thing off the shelf like a trick flow stage 2 cam. So you guys know it is about 10.5to1 comp ratio motor with patriot heads and the edelbrock intake let me know what you guys would do. HELP PLEASE ohh and i dont want it to be to high of lift like .565 or under thanks

Personally I'd go custom www.flowtechinduction.com or if your looking for a shelf grind give COMP a call.
The customs are worth every penny, they will idle and drive well and make more HP per dollar.

I believe theres a decent cam from comp cams thats in the rpm range that you are looking for. I have a 347 also and have been looking at this cam for awhile. Part number is xe274hr, duration at 0.050 lift is 224 intake/232 exhaust, lift is .555 intake/.565 exhaust, lobe seperation 112. The operating range is 2200-6200.

Great advice here.

Lift is not an issue with being a "large camshaft".

Often, many of the better street camshafts that I have noticed have high lift/low duration numbers in respect to each other.
