I just got a box of goodies from summit. Cam, timing chain, 255 fuel pump and pushrod length checker.

The cam has cardboard residue all over it, how do i clean it off? i dont want to use a cloth that produces lint. anyone?

Well it's best to use a lint-free cloth (if you have one available) ... I didn't have one handy at the time, so I was gentle and wiped with the rotation of the lobes ...

You definitely want to avoid any abrasive type cleaner ... WD would work also ... as far as carb cleaner I'm not familiar with any abrasive attributes, but I imagine it would work the same as brake cleaner ... if you have an air compressor you could always blow off any impurities as well.

The most important thing is that the cam is dirt free prior to assembly ... there is machining debris and anti-rust protectants on them from the factory that need to be removed ...

Carb Cleaner, Brake Clean, Parts Cleaner etc.... What ever you use make sure it is clean.

Make sure the cam is clean, use assembly lube very liberal on the came before installing it. Use the short dowel for the cam, make sure it fits snug and it is tapped in STRAIGHT. Locktite the cam bolt (use BLUE) and torque everything.
