cam options for non roller blocks

i got a non roller 302 i am building up and was wandering what camshaft options i got. i am looking for something that retains the h.o firing order since it is going into my 91 lx coupe. this motor is kind of a temporary motor though, while i am building up the 351 i have. i need something to get me going since i have to have this car to drive daily, but want a little more power while driving around. who makes a decent cam for a non roller block 302? and what are the normal prices. thanks

this motor i got also has pedestal mount rockers, that would mean it is a hydraulic flat tappet cam right?

No i dont think the pedestal mounts matter, I have a non roller block also studded though and i used the roller rockers from them on my new roller block. I think a nice cam package including a flat tappet and new hydraulic flat tappet lifters are around 150 give or take 20 bucks depending on manufacture and application. Im getting rid of a Lunati flat tappet bracket racing cam the 00016 model, but its for a carb, with the lifters and the triple spring valve springs that it was used with.

1st - If you want to keep the H.O. firing order get a 351W camshaft. The 302 H.O. firing order is the same as every 351W firing order.

2nd - Hydralic flat tappet cams are cheap. Check out www.summitracing.com they have tons of cams to pick from. Assuming everything is like factory (no performance parts) I'd look at this cam. It's a 351W cam and it's $170, comes with lifters (you NEED new lifters with flat tappet cams) and it's pretty close to stock 5.0 roller cam timing specs. It is a slight step up - but not much.

3rd - Rocker arm type has nothgin to do with the cam your engine has. All 302's from like 1979 to end of production came with pedestal mount rockers arms. The heads need to be machined for stud mount roller rockers to work. You can buy conversion kits that put roller rockers on the pedestal type mounts. Steeda sells pedestal mount rockers that are shaft mounted. They are the best pedestal rockers you can buy IMO.
