im having bacing firing problems. in the intake. i have also tried the dist... at 180 also same thing. lots of back fire. i have double checked the plug wires.

i set my balancer a 0 tdc.


how would i know if i have a roller cam?

You will need to set TDC and reaccomplish #1. While you're at it... double check your pointer for "0" on the damper.

You will know if you have a roller camshaft by the type of lifters installed. With the intake off, you'd either have the stock "spider" girdle or the aftermarket lifters have link bars that connect them.
If you have neither... then it's anyone's guess.

However! Some people have tried roller lifters on a non roller camshaft with some success. It would be very uncommon and chances are you do not have this setup.

if memory serves right, anderson does not make anything but roller cams, so you should be at the firing order mentioned before. Roller lifters can be identified as 347HO described, also double check your timing and marks like he said.

On top of that, put a timing light on it and check it while it's cranking, you should be able to get some readings that way, let us know what you find.

I reinstalled my old dist. and checked tdc again, used the same firing order and it fired up. now i have a new big problem , iI will start new thread
