Today I changed out my cams. I used a ford cam tool and everything went pretty smooth. When I went to fire it up is when the sh1t hit the fan. It runs like the timing is horribly off. I never let the tension off of the chains and sprockets when swapping the sticks and I used the RH with the RH and LH on the LH. Is there someting I could have overlooked? I figured I'm going to pull the front end off next weekend but until then is there anything I can check out that may cause this? I tripple check all my connections on wires that i disconnected, the cam sensor is in place and connected. Rigt now I'm just too exhausted to try and brainstorm, maybe it's something simple I've overlooked but your help would be awesome...thanks

if you don't have the cams lined up perfect, you are going to have problems. as c2see21 said, you are probably off by a tooth.

How is it not running right? Missing? Making noise? Tell us more and maybe we can help out.

Well it tries to run, but it seems like it's running on about 4 cylinders. It misses real bad, although it sounds like some of the cylinders are firing correctly.

Probably off a tooth... Dont run it no more! Go back and try it again!!! You may realize what you did wrong and correct it this time... 2nd time is always faster than the first time!!!

Thanks for the replies, I had to run it to move it to a place I could let it sit until I got a chance to work on it. I kept the RPMS low and listened for any "clacking" or ticking before proceding...Is PTV contact possible here? I was replacing my comps with PI cams(need the $$) I just noticed that a piece of my cam tool is missing. It's plastic. Could that have gone between the gear and chain and caused it to skip? I figure since it was plastic it might not tear anything up however now I'm worried I could have screwed up the gear and/or chain. Well I will only know for sure when I tear it down, but knowing some things helps me sleep at night, LOL
