I have heard alot of stories about the SHO cam problems and welding. All you have to do is do a search on Yahoo for SHO cam welding. I also have a freind that works at a Ford dealership in CT. and someone had a SHO v-8 motor that failed and the technicians looked up the price for a replacement crate motor and it was 17 g's. Not a typo, 17,000 dollars.

Yeah the replacment engines on those cars are very high...aren't they made in Japan or something (Yamaha)...

Ask your friend to show you the thread on the internet...he probably either got confused about the details of the "operation"...I bet it is a little more in-depth that that...about the welding the cam...

Well I looked around on google for a few minutes and some site said that it was rumored Ford ran out of them (SHO Crate's). It Also listed many lawsuits against Ford becuase of the common cam failure with the 3rd Gen SHO's.

i was reading the thread on it and some guy said a place in georgia does a good weld on them. But then in the same thread well tech article a guy said not to weld them it will warp the cam and or cause other problems. I told him if he buys the car he minds well just get custom cams made for it or im sure a company makes special cams for them. I dunno he just wont take my Knowledge of cars over his knowledge of nothing.
