i own a 04 gt and id like to do cams, i would rather not do heads because of $ right now but i would like to know what cams to use. Also is it worth doing cams without heads. Is there a need for springs and other valvetrain parts with these engines or not. I plan on staying n/a for at least a year. and i dont want a crazy radical cam thats going to screw up my drivability as far as engine lights stalling and other related problems but i wouldnt mind some lope. mods are..... mac CAI, accufab tb and plenum, bbk pulleys, bbk longtubes, catless x, flowmaster cat back, motive 4.10s, steeda triax, spec clutch, flywheel, driveshaft, rear control arms, lowered 2, 295/35/18 bfg drag radials on bullitts, ...................also want to know what is my best bet for tuning the car with or without the cams predator, sct, or something else car has been at the shop where i work sitting until i decide. AND last....(is it worth buying a wideband kit and which is best) sorry about all the questions im new to the ford perfomance game came from the other side (GM)

Well if your going to go with a supercharger, get Stg1(could be 2...but its the lowest #) VT Blower cams...that wont help alot right now, but with your mods your car is pretty quick. BTW put those mods in your sig, by using quicklinks near the top of the page and selecting "edit signature". Helps out cuz all you have to do is say, " mods in sig" and we can see them.About the WB, I wouldnt worry about that until your about to get the S/C or nitrous.

since you have the gears you have one lesss thing to worry about. from my research you have two good options. sticking with VT for ease of reference there is the stage 1 and 2.

if this is your daily driver and want more midrange power with a bit extra on all fronts then get the stage 1, dont need new springs or a computer flash. if you want more top end (4k-7k rpm) with a lor higher overall HP then the VT stage 2 is what you want. both will work good without heads, but it will take a good bit more power with the heads. the problem comes with te stage 2. you will need new valve springs (and unless you install yourself the labor alone will warrent new heads for not too much more) and highly recommended to get a tune as well.

those are the basic ideas at least. i'm going to go with stage 1 cams because i dont want to mess with heads for a good while i dont think, and as my daily driver i will be in the midrange more often then the top end RPMs. choose based on driving style and car use.

as far as tuning, the best possible is a custome tune from a pro and a reflash. secondary, if you are knowledgable enough and have access to a dyno, is to get a preditor and alter everything to fit your build (I'll be taking this path). no idea about SCT though... i'm sure someone has better knowledge about them and their excalibrator.

thanks for the info, no its not a daily driver(sometimes weekend car). As far as labor im a certified tech with unlimited shop time which isnt always good (to many hours spent at work). Just trying to figure out if its worth doing the cams, and making sure i dont have driveability problems and make driving it no fun
