Camber Bolts

Eibach Pro-Kit is what I am installing, they say if you drop over 1" you will need these bolts.

I saw a picture of the bolts, and read the definition of the bolt....

Could someone elaberate as to how these bolts operate? pictures would be great

They look kinda like a cam, where the lobe on the bolt provides a profile by which you can adjust the camber. When you insert the bolt in the bottom of the strut, the position of the bolt (and thus the lobe) with respect to the spindle adjusts the vertical alignment of the strut. So by adjust the bolt (spinning it in the strut) you move the bottom of the strut with respect to the spindle, which changes the arc through which the spindle will travel, changing camber.

That's about as good as I can do.

I just installed the Pro-Kit, well on the front at least, and looked into the camber bolts. A couple of the local custom shops told me that they do serve the purpose but you may run into issues with the bolts shifting under certain conditions and messing up the alignment. They both suggested the camber plates because once they are bolted in they won't move. They were easy to install. I put .5 degrees of positive camber in (a rough guess) until i get the rear put in and an alignment. I got the Steeda billet camber adjustment plates.

Pick them up, let your car sit for 1-2 weeks before getting an alignment. They may be needed, they may not. The shop was able to keep mine in spec without using them, so I sold them.

I used a camber bolt after installing my eibachs, and my tires were gone after less than a year. I switched to MMS camber plates. No trouble yet.

nasty, would you recommend the camber plates? ive heard that some can align without them...

I doubt you'll need them .. None of the cars that I've seen needed them. They are good if you road race the car a lot because there is so much adjustment.

how do you have your suspension set up besides being lowered?

Tokico D-Specs, Steeda Sport Springs, BMR Adj. Panhard Bar + Brace, BMR Billet LCAs, BMR Adj. UCAs, and Steeda Sway Bars. I think that's it.
