So I installed VT NA Stage 1 cams and I just received my mail order tune recently. I did a couple of logs on the highway in 3rd gear at 100% TPS.

Here's what I got, what do you guys think of it? The thin red line is a 13:1 AFR referencence.

My current mods are:
- VT N/A Stage 1 Cams No Tune
- Mac Prochamber O/R
- Diablosport Predator
- GMS Upper Intake Plenum
- Steeda U/D Pulleys
- FRPP 3.73 Gears
- Street tires (Exclaim UHP)
- Bullitt Suspension Kit
- SVT Cobra Front Brakes

Congrats on getting the cams in. So you finally got your tune, huh? Or did you end up going to someone else?

What are you using to log the AFR?

Yea, I managed to get a tune from RWTD during the weekend. It fixed the issues that I had with the motor.

I am using Innovate Motorpsort LM1 as my AFR datalogger. I converted the log into Excel because it's much easier to work with data on a spreadsheet.

Looks pretty good...use your X cal to lean it out by about 2% on the 4-7K range. That should do it...then check it out again.

How does it feel ?

Here's what happens with 2% leaner from 4k-7k RPM

Much better now and closer to 13:1 AFR. I did this datalog right on the 1/4 mile track. I ran 18.5@93. People were wondering what I was doing, I was doing a 3rd gear pull.

I would need to reach 130MPH to top out 4th, and with only 1/4 mile to work with, I don't think its possible I can only managed to get 107MPH.

If you don't mine me asking,

1. Were the slight adjustments you made to the A/F ratio the only things "wrong" with the tune?

2. How did he ship your tune....chip or programmer?

3. Cost for the tune?

Thanks.

1. There was nothing wrong, just that I decided to retune myself. The tuner said the AFR should be around 12.5:1. I asjusted the AFR because I did not have time to send the tuner a proper AFR with MAF voltage graph, so he can dial in my tune properly.

2. By email.

3. 125$ with one year of unlimited retunes.

I see. What did you use to load the tune/modify the tune then...which programmer?

Thanks

Thanks. Do you have a link for that company that provided your tune?

Also, do you know if he can tune for SCT software?

I would give you the link, but I warn you first, I have had many problems with them. A 2-3 day wait turned out to be 20+ days for a tune. Their tune is good, just that I don't know why they take so much time.

www.diablosporttuning.com

They will do SCT too, if you need more info about my experience with them, PM me.

PM me your horror story...I'm interested to read about it.

I'm looking into tunes for cams as I'm most likely going to do just cams versus heads and cams. The extra 20HP or so from the heads gives doesn't seem to justify the $2000.00 price (give or take) the heads would cost.

Cams, on the other hand, would probably cost about $1000.00 for the parts (cams, springs, retainers, cam gears) and if I can get away with a mail order tune and fine tune it after a dyno run, I'd save a bunch.

A local shop quoted Stang|less' friend $6000.00, yes not a typo, to install cams and tune it. Absurd.
