Im looking to buy a set of cams for my 96 Cobra. IM looking for an off the shelf cam. No custom grind. What are some good companies, where I can get them and a price on them. Also are they very hard to install on a DOHC CObra?

FR500 cams are off the shelf...kinda pricy though...And the installation can be really tricky if you don't know what you are doing...there's a lot of timing adjustments that need to be done to keep them with the correct timing, and there's a few specialized tools you need to do that...

The only thing you might have to change when putting in different cams would be better valve springs and retainers...But that depends on the profile of the cam too...It's good to have a ported intake and probably some head work done to get the full potential out of a set of cams though on our cars...

I thought the intakes on the 96-98 cobra flowed great? Rarely do you hear of anyone buying one of those $1200 intakes or paying 1/2 that for someone to port the damn thing for like 8 hp. Definetly not worth it in my book. Just my 2 cents tho. If your going to have like a 800 hp car than yea definelty gunna need a new intake but for a simple supercharged/cammed up cobra with like 500 hp the intake is more than enough already.

I was mainly talking for N/A cars with cams...blower cams work good with if you have a blower on it without anything else needed...ported heads and modified intakes help the N/A cars get the air into the combustion chamber to really show off what cams can do...

I only gained about 15rwhp at the peak when I got my modified intake on my car with a good tune, but past peak I gained upwards of 25-30 hp...definately worth it in my book...and I only paid $600 for the work to be done to it...
