So, since we're talking about cams... and I do believe I'm still on topic here without highjacking the thread... If a person puts a supercharger on an otherwise stock GT, should he, could he, add an upgraded cam?

Of course. From what i hear, the VT stage 1's actually work well with a blown application. You could definitely get some blower cams to compliment the supercharger

Prior to the install of the cams I was using Steeda's computer flash that they use with their CAI kits...they could not tune the car properly using their stock computer flash so they had to go with a superchips tune...who are you dealing with at Steeda?

i have been with is mike for a long time, great person, now he said steeda tune but does he mean the super chip i dont mind as long as it comes out positive the car has been tuned at mustang specialty with the preditor at 270 HP now with the superchip the gains should be more i hope, I trust steeda with my car, not alot of shops out there to take the car too and feel OK, mustang specialty shop looks bad the last time i was there and in a bad area dont want to leave the cat there you no, I feel better at steeda.

The only reason i went to them is that steeda did not want to adjust the car with the preditor and mustang specialty did and had good gains. I want to have a little more gain in HP and have that old school sound with cams not shooting to race with her but love to have some performance.

BTW steeda think you have comp cams installed i told them no VT lol but if i cant get the VT what do you think about the stage 1 comp cams the ones you dont have to add springs also. Not going to pull the heads trying to stay away from that if i can at this time.

Thanks gordan for your input

I do know Steeda sells both the Predator and Superchips Tuner, I know mike well, nice guy, they know my car very well, especially Fred...you will have to ask them specificlly about all the tuning options that they offer, let him know that you have been tuned with the Predator already (Quick note, should of went directly to Diablosport for your tune, they are in Boca). I do have VT Stage 1 cams installed, Fred from Steeda pointed me to them a while back before their cams became very popular, I bought them from MPH and had Steeda do the install, it was one of the first modular's that they installed cams on. I'm not sure how the comp cams compare to the VT's but I'm sure there are plenty of threads on their product...they shouldn't have to pull the heads for the install.

yea i called diablo and they recomended mustang specilty so that is y i went. Have you heard anything bad about them besides the shop looking like **** lol, i keep hearing super chip is better then diablo i can always sell the priditor and do the super chip and that is it i just want it done correctly, yea Mike is an awesome person trust him alot

BTW when i do the tune i would have to put in the factory tune back in the puter so i would be losing the custome tune from mustang Specialty and starting from scratch, Its ok as long as the numbers are there you no

I would go with the SCT just for the extra features it offer. Although I just rely on my shop to do my tuning. It is SCT.. but it is a custom. I have no tuner.

btw is that a Steeda MustangGT2001? Or did you put the package on it?

I maybe reading that wrong, but I think he wrote with a tune, so that is definately possible if it was never tuned before.

I thought VT N/A Cams were'nt recommended for blower apps by VT themselves?

didnt someone mention something about using N/As with a blower?

I also herd that. It is not good blowing VT stage 1s. Now, Comp 262s are suppose to be good for a blow.

My N/A cams ARE NOT FOR USE WITH A BLOWER!! Thats why I have blower specific grinds. I have my cam supply under control now and cams are back in stock. Stage 2 N/A are done and Stage 1 N/A and Blowers will be ready by mid week. Stage 1 N/A will work with stock valve springs, Stage 2's need valve spring upgrade.

Awesome news on the supply issue! I know they are a HOT item, but do you anticipate having a shortage of them in the next couple of months? I was about to buy a set of the N/A Stage 2's tonight but my better half made me think twice (bills come first).

And to stay on topic, the Blower cams CAN be used in a N/A application correct? You just wont get the full advantage of them until you get blown?

Exactly....BLOWERS can be used N/A until a blower gets put on.

And if I could predict the future...I wouldn't be working.

The car was tuned prior to the SCT tune...I originally had a diablo sport single bank chip and then switched to Steeda's N/A computer flash which was a big improvement over the diablo chip...I believe the stock computer didn't offer enough options for tuning the cams so it was switched to the SCT tune.

Any one have a guestimation on what a proper ammount of time would be for a cam install? I got a few quotes a while back but 12 hours was one and 9 the other, I would think no more than 6? And more likely around 3-4?
