so today i was going to install the camshaftbearings and camshaft. i put in the bearings into the bores of each cam bore. yes i made sure each bearing went into the bore that it was supposed to since the smallest diameter bore is the closest to the flywall and they get bigger as you move up to the front one.
My teacher put in the first two(closest to the back) and i slid in the last three. when we went to slide the cam in it wouldnt go in all the way. at first we thought it could be the first(furthest back) bearing we installed, but upon further inspection we noticed it was the second to last, so we took it out, slid the cam in without it and sure enough it went all the way through smoothly and turned. so we pulled the cam out again and sure enough, the bearing would clear the first bearing journal but it wouldnt go in to the second, we also turned it over to see if it would go in from the other side but nothing, so i took the old one from the same journal and it did go in. so i had to go to the napa wearehouse store which was about 20 mins away, brought it back to the shop. slid it over the first journal no problem, then the second(which its supposed to be for) and it did just clear it. so we knew we had had a miss machined bearing from the first set. so i go to slide it in(all of this witht he proper tool which is driven by a hand hammer) and it goes in. then i go to slide the camshaft and it goes in abuot 1/8th on all journals, so i start turning int and pushing at the same time but the damn bearing starts to turn too and slide! I hope its not the bore thats somehow gotten a bit too big for the bearing because according to my teacher the block would be junk unless it was bored out and had a sleeve put in which would cost too much for me to do it. so i was wondering if theres any way to make it work. i mean who knows, if i got a bad bearing the first time, whose to say the second one isnt bad either I'm going to go by the ford dealership and see if they have these bearings, hopefully those work. any ideas?

seems like not many people have built/rebuilt engines around here. i guess next time I'll title my thread "need help with figuring rear end gear ratio" to get more attention.
