camshaft options?

im looking for more power so im thinking camshaft change...i dont know anything about them so can sombody please explain what mine is set up for and what i can do to maybe get better power...
currently have 204/214 @50 thou, 448/472 valve lift, and 112 lope center. thanks

oyeah...i have a 289, 30 over, c4, flat top (4 valve?) pistons, 9.2:1 compression

Hydraulic flat tappet, Intake Duration 050 inch Lift 218, Exhaust Duration 050 inch Lift 228, Advertised Intake Duration 276, Advertised Exhaust Duration 286, Intake Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio 0.471, Exhaust Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio 0.471, Lobe Separation (degrees) 114.

It has noticible idle, gives good power from idle to around 5500 RPMs. Will make a little more power than the cam you have right now. If you want something a little more wild you could look into something with a 550+ lift. You'll have to upgrade your valvetrain to handle the increase in lift so you don't float a valve.

Iv got a Comp cam 280H. Its a hydrualic flat tappet cam. Its exhaust duration is 512. Its got a pretty lopy idle. Dont really have any driveability issues like alot of people say that I will. Its got gobs of upper rpm power but not much down low. Thatll all change soon as I get my new axle in.If you plan on running a cam over 500 deg duration then your gonna need a good carb, intake, and some headers. Try swaping out you carb and intake if you havent yet. If you still want some more power then get a good set of headers and an exhaust system. At least that way youll be set up for a bigger cam. With the exception of new rockers, lifters, and springs.
If you end up going with a new cam make sure you get your heads checked out before(if you havent already).

i do alot of freeway driving also..70-75mph. if that makes much difference.

i had the engine built about 5k miles ago, heads have been rebuilt completly, i have edel 600 cfm carb on a performer rpm intake, hooker comp headers. 2 1/2 40 series flowmaster duals. i have the stock 280's in the rear which i plan to change out soon for something else.
