I have a 2002 GT and last week my service engine soon light came on. The only problem i could tell was that when i turned the key, my car would have a hard time starting up. Sometimes it took two cranks for the car to actually start.
I did the diagnostic and got a Camshaft Sensor code. After reading on the internet that the alternator is likely the source of the service engine light and bad start ups, i replaced it.

Now that the alternator is replaced..should the light go out by itslef or do i have to clear the code.
Has anyone else experinced these problems?

Before replacing the alternator you probably should have checked it. Too late now.

I'd clear the code using a scanner and see if it returns. It's still possible the cam sensor itself or the wiring has issues.
