YEsterday i was racing my buddy in his 347 stroker fox, and when i got up to around 100, the car started making a fast, strong vibration, i could really feel it in the shifter. Now, i know my ujoints are fine, and my rear end and tranny are in good condition, so i think its my driveshaft. Can you have a stock steel rebalanced? how much? I would buy an alum. one, but for the money, i really dont think its worth it, and its bigger so it hits the E. The stock driveshaft is damn light so i would like to keep it, because i have other priorities!

Rjovi - How much do you get to "rebuild" a driveshaft.

Clean -up rust, replace the u-joints, re-spray, straighten, and balance?

Chris
Well it all depends on how clean you want it. If it is real rusty the only way to get rid of it is to retube it. But for most shafts solvent and paint makes them look good. U joints are on average about $20.00 per, but some older ford joints are a little more.

So to answer your question two joints and straighten & balance(includes paint) is usually about $100.00-$110.00 Retubing adds about $50.00

I'm in St Louis and I had my DS tube replaced, balanced and new u-joints added for $13 with tax. Seemed cheap to me, but I like it done RIGHT.
Dont post the name of the shop or all of stangnet will drive across country to go to this place! decent U joints cost that much or more.
