Can an '03 Cobra carrier be used with Strange 31 spline axles?

I am working on a problem with my rear end setup. I have a Cobra carrier and Strange Engineering 31 spline direct fit axles. The shop I have the car at is saying that they were told you can't use the Cobra carrier without C clip eliminators. Anyone know if this is true? It seems like once the cross pin is installed the axles stick out too far and the caliper brackets have to be shimmed about 1/4 inch or more. This doesn't seem right to me. If anyone has an input I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

The car is a 2003 Mach 1 with FRPP 4.30's, a Terminator Cobra carrier, and Strange 31 spline axles in a stock housing.

It should be a direct fit, as long as you have c-clip style axles. Lots of people are using the Cobra differntials in there 8.8" rears.

I have a 03-04 cobra carrier in my SRA and it fits fine. It sounds like your axles are just too long.
