Can anyone help with this...?

I am installing a new MSD distributor, but the new distributor is hitting the fitting that connects a heater hose to the manifold, and not allowing it to seat all of the way down in the hole. Can I plug that hole and use the adjacent hole in the manifold for the heater hose? Not knowing enough about the what the inside of the manifold looks like, I need help!

can you post a pick that is not so friggin close up so we can see what the manifold setup looks like? :D And when something doesn't fit, don't force it because now your distributor is chewed up.
 
ok your other pics showed up now and it looks like you can swap where that plug is farther away and higher up and where your host fitting is right now.
 
Hard to tell from your photo, but I'll bet the plugged hole in your photo is smaller than the one the fitting is in now. I'm also pretty sure that heater fitting has a long tube extending out the bottom, it may be too long to fit in the unused hole.

That all said, I might take a shot at filing a notch in the fitting to give the extra needed clearance.
 
On a scale of 1 to 10? about a 8.3... :)
Soak it overnight in PB Blaster or some other penetraing fluid. You can try getting an easy out that size but it probably won't work...You can take a drift (punch) and grind a 45 degree angle on the tip and try to drift it around a bit and see if it will screw out. You can get a small three sided file and cut down the side to split it. Cut to the depth of the threads bt no further and tray with a small chisel again. You may need to get a little more serious with it. Have to get it out. You can buy a pipe tap that size (1/4 inch?) but you need to get most of that out.
Beyond that, maybe someone has a great idea I haven't thought of.

Edit: You may be tempted to tap and plug that, bt if that piece corrodes enough and breaks loose, it will lodge in the water jacket in the worst possible place assuming Murpheys Law has any bearing....
OH! You can pull your thermostat out and reach the bottom of the broken part and dig it out. So you only have the smallest part left n the hole...
 
My experience with stuck water fitting is that you have to take it out in pieces. I have done 2. Both I ended up drilling to thin the thickness and then colapsing it with an old screwdriver and a hammer.
 
Vacuum them out through the thermostat opening. THe really fine particles won't matter. It will wash through the system. Vacuum as much as you can. You can also put a oil soaked rag in there to catch and hold the debris from driling.
 
That elbow is a flow restrictor. It limits the water that can get into the heater core. I recomend you get another flow restrictor unless you enjoy replacing exploding heater cores every 2000 miles or so........
 
The Weiand Stealth is a good manifold too, #8020. I find it to be a better casting quality than the edelbrock manifolds, but it compares almost identically to the RPM air gap and regular RPM manifold. The air-gap looks cooler though.
