Is it possible to save or download a tune off someone else (like someone on here) and use it on my tweecer?

If anyone has a similar setup to mine could I just use their tune?

Here is my mods:
World's Windsor Jr Heads, e303 Cam, Polished cobra intake, bbk 70mm tb, bbk cai, bbk headers, bbk offroad h pipe, flowies, steeda tri-ax, kirban afpr

the reasons I ask is I just want a general tune, nothing crazy, I also want to bump up my timing but it seems reallying confusing to me.

thanks

Combos almost always seem to act diff. and the best way your going to learn/get the most out of the powerfull tuning device is to make your own.

I know its not what you want to hear.

Here are some quickies though.

first set your timing and FP to stock (10* and 39psi)

go the to getting started and read that, if your manual pay no attention to the AOD settings.

One more question,

What size inj. and MAF do you have? There are many people here now who will be willing to help you. Why copy when you can make your own and be MUCH happier with it and yourself.

your exact combo may have very different tuning needs on another car. you could use someone elses tune as a baseline, but it will still need further adjustment to make it right for your car. as far as timing goes, set your timing back to 10* using the distributor and the scalar you are looking for is spark_adder_global. for example, a value of 2 in that scalar with the base timing at 10* would mean 2* timing advance. that would equal 12* total timing. a value of -2 in the value field would mean 2* retard. with the base timing at 10* that would mean 8* total timing. hope that helps. my best suggestion though would be reading the excellent manual posted here to get you started and then asking questions in the forum if you need more assistance with any part of it. the manual can be found at the link below. good luck.

You really don't need a tune to start with other than what you download from your pcm ... which I think is best when getting started ........
as opposed to ........
using some file you find elsewhere.

This will ensure you don't start off with a file that has been hosed around with or has been corrupted.

I agree with what Greg & Roger have said.

Like Greg ... the first thing I was looking for was maf/inj's as that can be a good indication of how close or far away your tune is.

If you are still running the stock maf/inj's ................

You'll need to step up to at least 24's as you now tune at stock pressue.

As for the maf ... I have no way to relate to your head choice (total airflow) which would give me an idea if you may or may not peg the stock maf.

Never the less ... I have concern for the 19's way more than the maf.

You can look at my site and get some idea about spark tables, tip in retard and more if you wish.

My tune is there in pic form or screen shots.

DO NOT use that stuff on your combo :nono:

The fuel tables and other stuff would not even be close to what values you are gonna end up with.

Just look at it to get an idea of what is being accomplished.

Plenty of basic stuff there and here to get you on your way :D

If you don't see a bigger pic about how the spark tables work then come on back and we can help you. Like Roger said ... you gotta do some reading to get yourself grounded.

We all had to do it :bang: ............ :rlaugh:

Almost forgot ... you will see screen shots that don't look like what you normally see as I use an older version of software

but makes no difference ...............

At this point ... IMHO ... your mission focus is ..............
not to learn how
but
why to make a change :)

btw ....... Welcome to the self tuning community ;)

Well to help you get started, and kinda give you an overview I'll show you how I tackled my tuning. As with anything there is not one set way, but this is how I've done it. You can start with a T4M0 tune (if you've got a stick) or just read what is on your car's EEC and go from there.

Keep NOTES on what you do and why you do it... and save often! I backup my stuff to a USB thumbdrive.

Oh yeah, as blksn955.o said above, set your FP and timing back to stock. (39lb/10*). The EEC assumes this is how it is setup. You may also want to manually reset your idle if it is rough (search on here - involves the TB screw and unplugging the IAC).

From there you'll want to get your MAF transfer nailed down - EEC Analyzer or an wideband O2 can help with this.

Get your part throttle driving squared away (research KAMRF's) - make sure the "K's" are pretty close to 1.

From there work on the WOT and slowly sneak up on the spark values (Wideband O2 is critical here).

After that you can tackle your idle. My idle wasn't bad so I did it last... some of what you change in idle could affect your changes above so I opted to do it last. The TB airflow scalar could help ya here as will the base idle. I had to bump it a little when I added my intake and exhaust mods. Again, EEC analyzer can calculate this for you.

Ask here if you run into any Q's.

Also - the Yahoo twEECer group as well as http://www.eectuning.org are great sites to research.

Take everything you read on the Internet with a grain of salt - heck, sometimes the whole shaker - don't just take someone's word for it, research and find out what is really going on when you make changes. Watch your datalogs. It'll make things 100x easier and help you see the big picture.

Good luck and happy tuning!

There are a good bit of us on here who are willing to help you threw this, and alot of great info.

Reply back with your maf type and inj. size at least we can point you in the correct direction.

Eec Annalizer (EA) is a GREAT tool and worth the price.

One thing I have a slight issue with on the above info posted before on the spark thing. With the tweecer we can tune both WOT and drivability. Making a global spark change (like twisting the dizzy) also adds spark were ALOT already is (in the EGR tables) and can cause a ping issue. I would search out and look at grady's site about using the tables to gain controle. This way you can run stock or near stock at cruise and around town driving and have the timing tables set up better for WOT like making all the spark in at 2,000-2,500K instead of the S L O W stock advance rate of all in at 4-5k as well as bumping the timing in that area.

I would caution though...get the fuel side squared away first too much timing without enough fuel is not good. ALWAYS go soft on timing while and when messing with fuel.

he was just asking about a basic timing change. it is by far not the ideal way to do it, but being that all the tables can be a bit overwhelming at first i figured i would give him the most basic information possible. heck, im still learning how all the tables work and what they do.
