Can I just put this shortblock back together and then put it in my car?

Done this twice now:

(budget method)

Check for a ridge at the top of the cylinder walls, ream the ridge off ($20 tool at autozone) and hone the cylinder. If the ridge was small, clean the pistons using steel wool and fast orange. A wire wheel will devastate a relatively soft piston! Ring it and slap it together.

I meann unless you have reason to suspect that this motor had the ***** beat out of it and took 150 shots of nitrous, then there wont be any reason to suspect cracks and out of round cylinders. The size of the ridge says it all. If it is small, wear was minimal all around. Ream, hone and slap together. If you see a huge ridge.....yeah....have it checked.

I used a mild stiffness wire wheel on a die grinder, it worked great. I can see how a very stiff wire wheel could cause a problem, though.

balancing would not be an issue....as long as you use the stock damper, flywheel/flexplate

Thansk guys, im gonna go pick it up tomrow. Is it ok to use a pressure cleaner to jsut get the oil off it? Its kinda nasty .
