would enough porting make the performer 5.0 good for up to 6000-6200rpm??? if yes, how extensive would the porting be??

If you don't know what the heads can flow, you may not need to port the Performer - it flows ~220-225cfm stock.

how exactly do you match flow rates of the heads versus the intake............

is it dead nuts against one another or what is there a percentage........sorry for the stupid question......

If the intake (edit - DUH!) is choking off the head flow, you want to port the intake for best power. You generally want the intake to flow as much or more than the head, but that is a general statement.

If you pull the casting flash off the manifold and straighten the runners a bit, you would probably do more than enough to keep up with those Track Heat heads.

Words of advice: Take TMoss' advice. He's no dummy....

your intake should outflow your heads, and your cam dictates where peak torque comes at .. that's IMHO of course...

Just a quick question, if you want the intake to flow just as much or more then the heads. Then why are most of the people on this forum using AFR-165 heads and Performer intakes successfully?

tmoss, do you know about what Jake's ported Performer flows?

When you use an intake that flows less than the head, it will work but it won't make the best HP. Torque will be strong and the HP curve will fall off sooner, but performance will be good. It's a LOT like comparing using one of my ported lowers or a stock Cobra. The power band is different due to the point at which total flow is restricted by the intake (assuming the cam is not restricting first).

I do not flow my lowers normally, so I don't know what Jake's intake flowed, but it obviously made great power and torque with the heads and EDC's cam.
