Can I rotate the IAC 180* for clearance?

I am currently (have been for a while) working on putting an EFI 302 into my 68 Mustang. The intake combo I am using is Exploder Upper/GT40 Lower, Exploder TB. Clearance is kind of tight and I was wondering if it is possible to rotate the IAC 180* so the connector is pointed in the opposite direction? On the workbench it looks as thought it would work. Also can I swap the 95 IAC onto the Exploder TB? It looks more compact. I understand the plugs are probably different.

No to rotating the IAC. Not sure if the 94/95 IAC is interchangable with the Fox-style one, I have never tried...

When you install the fox iac in looks like it's installed 180* of the 94-95.

What prevents me from doing so? I do not have them with me here at work so I may be missing something obvious.

It's the way the valve works. i installed a fox one on my car and it didnt work right. the fox one was installed so it looks like the 94-95. But really the fox installes backards looking compared to the 94-95.

The 94\95 IAC is compatible with the Fox TB, but is Fugly when it is done. You cannot rotate the Fox IAC 180* (Rio5.0 did this and the car idled at 3000 RPM, he put it back to normal and it idled where it was suppossed to). I assume that you also cannot rotate the SN95 IAC.

Well like I said This engine is going into a 68 mustang so clearance is an issue. If the 94/95 IAC will fit and give me the clearance I need I may just have to live with the looks. Thank you for everyone's input.

I'm trying to think back to whether or not I ever tried that when I was doing my Fox TB conversion... I may have. I'm pretty sure it'll work (easy 'nuf to find out...). As someone else said, there's something about the design of the valve that makes it malfunction if you turn it 180* -- mine sounded real pissed off about it too, made some fairly creative noises .

Been there done that on the IAC as Tim mentioned...I wanted it 180 for the elec plug mostly...as it was to damn close to my CAI...Anyway...you can try it and see...but it didnt work for me....unless a hanging throttle and idling at 2800 works for ya...
I had no idea how it worked as I have no Fox background....after about 2 hours of looking at the motor going W.T.F.!!! I thought of rotating it 180 (normal position) Damn it idles correct...

To further add confusion, some aftermarket IAC's for foxes (from parts stores, etc) mandate the need to be installed upside down in order to work properly (this mounting position would be upside down of how it normally is, even on a fox). There normally is a slip of paper in the box (dont hold your breath on that one) saying to do this.
