you could... BUT, because the vert is heavier than than your hatch
you may not see the same amount of drop as your friend's vert. and the ride will be different also.
EDIT:
The vert is slightly heavier and that is the only difference.
The car may not sit as low, and may act a little stiffer in the back.
I am not sure if the difference would be enough to notice though?

SVT, so by that logic, we'd need different coil spring isolators for vert springs too. I dont think I've come across them animals.
Like Jason, I always thought it was something more like a different spring rate than a physical coil diameter difference. Now anti-sway bars are bigger on verts...............
Well the isolaters are stretched a little bit around the springs anyways, so not really. Those are the numbers the computer gave me at work. I just bought 2 convertibles the other day and the springs are a tad thicker. I probably have 8 sets of Mustang springs on the shelf that I compared them too.
