Can I use engine assembly lube instead of camshaft assembly lube?

Im rebuilding my engine and in my haynes manual it states for me to use camshaft assembly lube but I dont have any, can I use engine assembly lube or what? Is it the same?

yup sure can! just make sure you lube the hell out of it before you put it in lol....be careful not to knick the cam bearings

I did the same and had no problems. There maybe no difference in the two.

i used engine assembly lube on my tranny.. its all basically the same stuff... just some lubrication until the oil/tranny fluid gets in there

be sure and get your oil changed shortly after running your newly built engine as to remove all that assembly lube from the oil.. probably a week or so should be good
