order new tires while you're at it !! :D
:rlaugh: AMEN to that. Its been awhile since mine but I'm pretty sure I just changed everything the first kit offers. If the bearing are fine then there no real reason to change them unless you want peace of mined that they are new. Also give Summit a call and tell them Gene Evans has those gears for $130 and they will match there price and free shipping :nice:

well the car only has 67k easy miles on it so i doubt the rear needs too much attention...so kit #1 sounds like a go unless someone chimes in with a serious reason i should go with one of the others...i would go through summit but do they carry the rest of the installation stuff??

I think that all gears come with the shims and the crush sleeve and pinion seal you can but at you local ford dealer and you can use RTV gasket maker for the cover gasket. I think my friend (ford tech) who did the gears said that most of the time the shims that are in the car already are reused because hardly anything changes (again I think its been awhile).

What are your total costs going to be if you dont mind me asking?? I am also going to be purchasing gears soon and I was quoted about $630 with labor... im trying to find the best price...

Think of it this way if you were changing out your intake would you rebuild a perfectly good strong motor with only 67k miles on it if there was no real need for it. And yes wait to see what other say they could prove me completly wrong here it is late and i'm tired.
well your logic is the same as mine...i know ive heard that you might as well rebuild it while your in there...but its only got 67k on it!

My advice: Order 4.10's :D

Looks like you have it covered. Get the speedo gear from Steeda, I believe it's the white 23 tooth. I didn't replace the t-lok, but then again I did it with 15k miles on the clock. I'd say do a big ass burnout and if you get two nice lines then leave it.

thanx man...so do you think i should grab one of the "install kits" from gefracing??

I say get the FMS gears, as mentioned it will have the crush collar, pinion nut, carrier shims(my kit didn't have the pinion shims) and marking grease...
i changed mine with 52k and all the bearings were fine...My Ford bud told me the swap would be simple, far as shimming goes...same under pinion shim swapped to new set...done deal...Ford set-ups all there rears and gear sets to a "master dimension" so the swaps are relatively simple...Not all work this way, most FMS gear swap do though...
i would go to your local Napa or the like...get 2 axle seals and a pinion seal...both should be changed while your there...12-15 for all 3 seals...
get the friction modifier when you order the gears...5-6 bucks...
The diff cover...I just use Black hi-temp RTV....no leaks or probs to date...

I would opt to re-do the Trak-loc...its 50.00 for the kit and while its apart it makes sense to do it...you WILL be breaking em loose much more, lets face it.. :D I didn't do mine at first only to have it start the one wheel peels shortly after... :bang: Like I say...you got it apart....I also did the beefed up clutch pack...4 per side versus the stock 3...a little extra meat for free...

Be aware of your ABS sensors..theres a 50/50 chance they'll take a dump or be wrecked getting em out...if need be..run without em til you can score some...I did for awhile...

Oh ya...If the money is there, its a perfect time to swap to the Alum DS... :D
