Hi, I'm in the process of changing my steering wheel for the fr500 one on my 2002 mustang gt

on every instructions i found on the net it says the two bolts on each side are 8mm to remove the airbag but on mine it is some kind of strange looking bolt, almost looks like a locking lug nut but much smaller

here's a picture of it

thanks
Martin

That looks like a tamper proof torx bolt. Not sure on the size maybe about a t27. You can just buy a cheap set of torx bits. just make sure there is a hole in the center of them.THat is what makes them tamper proof.

I have some tamper proof torx at home, but I would really like to find the right tool for this bolt to have in the future.

thanks speedytang, I will call the snap-on guy tommorow:nice:

You could always pick-up and try a set of "gator sockets". Not sure if it would work or not, but the good news is they are a multi tasker.

the snap on guy has not called me back for 3 days....

i did some internet research and found this
nissanairbaglocks.jpg
listed as Air Bag Anti-Theft Bolts on ebay for a Nissan Altima, the third one looks the same.

So now I have to assume that this was added by the previous owner and it did not come like this from Ford.

i'll keep looking and maybe try to contact the previous owner.

thanks guys
