I've got a 95 GT that I'm planning on putting some Viper comps, an e12k, and a Kicker KX800.4 in.
The Kicker will be configured as such:2x100 and 1x400.
I'm figuring that Kicker doesn't overrate their amps much, will my stock alt. handle this?

Thanks,

J

You shouldn't have a problem...If you wanted, you could upgrade the underhood grounds (the "big 3") just to be safe. I had about 800 watts total in my car (also a 95 gt) in my previous setup, and I never had any problems.

Like he said, you should be fine. Good choice in equipment, too. What series of viper's did you get? 550.2 or 650.2? Also, are you going to run the 12k sealed or ported?
Thanks!
I set out a couple months ago with the plan to make a nice audio set-up (comps, amp, and sub) for less than $450. Many told me it could not be done.
Looks like I'll have ~$404 into the aforementioned equip. :flag:

Many hours of trolling car audio sites under my belt lately.

I ended up getting the 550.2's because I'm a first timer and didn't want to screw w/ getting big 6.5's into the doors.

I'll probably try the 12K sealed first and port it if necessary. That's actually been my biggest problem. I'd rather go sealed, but I have no idea how loud one will be sealed off of 450-500W (I've heard most of those KX880.4's actually put out around 1KW). To people w/ bd1500's running 15A's, I'm sure the output would be lacking, but that's not me :D

I think the 650.2's are 7.25" O.D., too, so good thing you got the 550.2. With about 500W sealed, those should sound loud enough. I'd actually recommend the O series if you're going to run that much power to them. They're meant to be run sealed, though you'll be about $20 over your 450 mark. Good choice either way.

I know what you mean. I'm still not sure which sub to run, I still have about 5 choices. I know the O will be louder than the K sealed, but the K's should get pretty loud, while having great SQ, ported.
