can you get them

yeah, you can take it to a ford dealer and they can change the ratio in your computer. better hope they don't void your warrenty if you still have one though. It sucks. Catch 22. Plus it will cost you about $50.

That's what I was thinking of doing...and I'm not going to install gears until after the car's out of warranty anyway...

But curious: what are the advantages of a speecal over the above method? It seems to be what everyone does...

Only advantage I can think of is that it's easy to do yourself. You can set the dipswitches if you change gears again, or tire size. Plus, you can sell it if you ever get a programmer, chip, or flash down the road.

Thanks for the info...I figured it had something to do with interchangeability/upgrading other aspects of the car. :)

The Steeda EEC-reflash is a nice choice. It takes care of the speedo and timing so you don't need to buy a timing adjuster if that was in your future mods list.
Steeda ECU flash (if you're talking about the NA learning one) only goes up to 3.73 gears.. Tim charges an extra fee to flash it to 4.10's
