can you make an open differintial a trac-loc?

hey, bought a rearend out if a 91 ford mustang, car was a 4 cylinder automatic lx hatchback car, i am not sure what gears are in it but i know that it is not a traction lock differintial. so can i buy a traction lock rebuild kit and install it in my 4 cylinder open carrier rearend, to make it a traction lock? thanks.

no, you need the trac lock assy.

91, 2.3 auto you would have 3.73 gears in there. Those 4 cylinder auto's needed those 3.73 gears to get them moving. Ford rangers had 7.5" rear Trac Loc carriers in them if you want to swap it out.

o.k excellent i have an 85 gt with a 7.5 inch trac lok, so i will just buy a track lok rebuild kit for a 7.5 and i am good to go, thanks alot guys
