Can you sand or fix a scraped dash??

My manual high speed fan switch was bad so I swapped out for a nice new one and when I was drilling the hole for it the drill bit popped out and ran along the dash for like 6 inches. I was SO mad. Not to mention I have a black dash so it shows badly. It is directly to the right of where your right knee would be while driving. Not the worst possible place but still looks like crap. Can this be sanded in any way or am I pretty much screwed cause I would sand the texture off the dash too?

The previous owner of my car had glued a dash mat down. When i was trying to remove the glue from the dash, I scraped it up a little bit. I thought I was gona have to buy a ney dash to get it to look right. I used some Meguiar's Natural Shine Protectant on there, now I can't find where I scraped the glue off. Thought its worth a try if the scratches are pretty superficial.

Prolly a little worse than that.

this isn't not the best fix but it's cheaper than replaceing the dash pad.
Mask off around the scratch.
Use some super glue or epoxy to fill the scratch.
Sand filler smooth taking care not to sand the surounding dash.
Paint the filled area with matching interior paint.
While the paint is still wet take a balled up piece of cheese cloth and blot the wet paint to give a textured look.

Thats a good idea. Although i would probably fail at filling it in with glue/epoxy

If the scratch is discolored, maybe try painting it to match? If its still an eye sore try filling it in like said above
