Can you take off the Mach1 Decals?

Use a hair dryer and they will come off very easy, just don't stay in one place too long and evenly heat it.

Just heat it until it is very warm where you can still touch it, don't burn it. Start with one corner and just go peel slow.

pull it off & put it in silver or gold

The newer the car is the better your results are likely to be, less chance for the paint to have time to fade, vinyl to get brittle, etc.

Would the hair dryer work on 4 year old brittle dealer decals also? Mine are starting to curl on the corners and it looks terrible. One of the letter fell off and the glue is still on the car, anything in particular to take off the glue?

A lot depends on the type of adhesive used. Some adhesives like the ultra aggressive acrylic adhesive used on most metalic and reflective stickers are almost imposssible to remove, others like normal cast or calendered vinyl are relatively easy (most commercial a glue removers will work). In general I prefer a commercial product by the name of orange peel (made with orange oil), or another called Un-Glue for certain applications.

i've thought about this..my car is black and u can barly see them...they are on good though..lil scared

You got to be stupid to take off the Mach1 decals. They really look nice on the car. You will ruin the looks of the Mach1 styling if you are stupid enough to take the decals off. Leave them on or buy yourself a GT which doesn't have the decals.

there was a red one that rolled out of detroit on ebay missing its stripes and looked badass,i saw a black 1 on mach1registry looked even more stealthy, i traded my gt in for the mach..stripes dont mean 'Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me' its the engine!

Yeah, but you are molestering the original look of your car by taking off the Mach1 stickers. I would leave them on. Your car will be worth more if it's kept original looking. You defeat the purpose by altering the Mach1 look on a Mach1.

i didnt buy a mach for its stripes..i actually never liked them thats why i have a black one....when the car is shiny..just looks like a dull spot on my hood..i prob wont take them off....but if i did that would be ok..because i own it

But you will alter the originality of your Mach1 if you take the stickers off. That's what I am trying to tell you. Do whatever you want, but your car will not retain it's value in the future if you take off the Mach 1 stickers. You want to keep the exterior appearance as original as possible so your Mach1 can hold it's value when it gets old.

I don't think the guy cares. He bought the mach 1 to go fast, not to be a collectors car. I hate to break the news to you, but it is going to be a long time until these cars are worth any money. Even then it might not be any more then a GT or cobra.

Hey Ron, these kids don't respect the vehicles anymore like us old timers. It's all about the sound system, and the motors, and the bling bling. At some point in time, when they go to sell that stripeless Mach 1, they'll find out then that they probably should have left it alone, or at least had them put back on.

Black 1970 Mach 1's came with black stripes too, but the owners didn't usually pull them off!

Kids, whaddya gonna do?
