Can You Tell the Difference?

So I buy this Roush Mustang with 18X9s in the front and 18X10s in the rear with 265/35/18s up front and 295/35/18s in the rear (the tires Roush puts on those wheels). The dealer promises me he will replace the tires, same dimensions, but instead orders 285/35/18s in the rear, obviously trying to save some money. I like the way the 295 fits on the rear right now and am worried that the 285 will damage this look. I have searched the forums and understand fully that bigger is better, and optimally I should get the 295, however, the dealer has ordered them and will not reorder the 295s. For those of you who have gone from a 285 to 295 or vice versus, on an 18X10 inch wheel, is the difference really noticable?

Did you get the agreement to replace the tires in writing ("due bill")?

If so, it will be easier to get the correct size tires for the rims.

Getting 285's vs 295 means that your tire width will be 10 mm narrower ... just slightly more than 1/3 of an inch. This is not much difference and will likely not be very noticable visually or performance-wise, but there is STILL a difference.

The 285s have been mounted and to answer my own question, YES, you can tell the difference. The tire doesn't at all looked stretched as I feared it might, however, it lacks the bulge of the 295 and hence greater rim protectant. I would have preferred to have 295s but it wasnt up to me and for about 175$ more that it would cost for 295s(just in the rear) Im not sure its worth it.. at least on my budget. But for those of you who can afford to do so, stick with the 295s.
