Hey guys, I've always been able to advance my timing without any hassles. I recently replaced my timing chain and the timing was a bit lower (around 6 or 7). I'm thinking maybe it was because of the slack in the old chain. Anyways, i went to re-adjust it and when I turn the distributor clockwise it won't turn anymore. It's not like the plug wires are too tight or anything. The #1 terminal is about 12o'clock and the plug that comes from the stator sensor on the distributor it's self is at about 6o'clock. After some more investigating it almost looks like one of the dimples(dunno what else to call it) from the distributor is pretty snug up against my driver's side fuel rail. I don't know if it's completely touching it but it looks pretty damn snug back there. I can still advance it to 10degrees, so no worries what I need to do is done. However, I was just wondering if any of you guys ever had a similar problem? I don't know why I could advance it with no problem a little while ago and now I can't turn it clockwise all that much
BTW, for the record... I changed the old chain out which was some off-brand double roller that had a decent amount of slack in it for a FRPP double roller and the car feels like it has it's balls back. Before it felt like a sloth and felt like **** after 5k, now it gets up and peels wheel even in 2nd gear. I couldn't even get the wheels to spin if I punched it in 1st if I tried before. It's still a little cold out to tell, but I think it may have solved my pinging problem also.
