Just had the heads off to replace a head gasket, and noticed the headers!

They are BBK short headers and I cant belive how much they restricting they are!!!

The is a big weld all round the inside of the port, making it nearly half the size of the head port!!

I now want a pair of long headers!!

What are the best ones out there for performance??

BBK or MAC. I would take BBK only because it has a 1 piece mounting flange and I don't believe the MAC's do.

Thanks Guys!

Where is the best place to order them from?

I have seen them on summit, but I would like to see them first!!

You have to cut and weld your old exhaust..right?

Your worried about restiction but not about the loss of back pressure. Even if you go with long tube headers the primary tubes will still be 1 5/8 unless you order them larger. most people that I know of dont step up to larger tubes unless they have big cubic inch motors

Hooker Super Comp Headers are great, you can get them in a 1 5/8 Primary or 1 3/4 Primary with a 3in collector. The are not real cheap though, around $350. D&D Automotive Specialties that can custom build them in 1 5/8 through 2in primaries depending on your heads. They start at $259.95.

Backpressure is never good. Going to a larger tube header the velosity can decrease. 1 5/8ths LT's are probally the way to go.

The weld around the port isn't just because they're shorty headers. Before you I installed mine, I grinded all that down.

I had to throw away a set of BBK shortie ceramics! They cracked in the middle of the tube near the collector and was leaking exhaust real bad. I replaced them with JBA shorties with titanium ceramic coating. These have great build quality and work great. They made the BBKs look like junk. I recommend JBA.
