It started innocently enough with an offroad H pipe. I just wanted a meaner sound and figured getting rid of the origional 6 cats has to be worth a few horses. I said to myself, this is probably the only modification the car will ever see. She is such a sweet and nice daily driver, I didn't want to ruin it.
Then, it came time to replace the air filter. Hmm, looks like a drop in K&N is only a bit more expensive and would pay for itself in the time I plan to keep the car. Maybe it would gain 0.1 mpg too. So a K&N was dropped in and out came the stupid looking intake silencer attached to the airbox. Two mods for one.
Later, I ended up getting an underdrive crank and waterpump pulley for free, included with a shortblock I bought. I decided that if I can use the stock length belt (since I just bought a new belt), that I'd run the pulleys. Sure enough, the stock length belt works fine and I have another modification.
So now I've got an offroad H, drop in K&N, removed air silencer, underdrive pulleys, and I'm keeping an eye out for more. Anyone want to sell me PI cams or a intake for cheap? I have to say though, the car is a lot more responsive and fun to drive now.
It all started like this on the 88 mustang too: that little 2.3L went from 19.x @ 65mph to 12.2 @ 111mph over the course of the 9 years I've had the car.

the posted thread member, with me it started with the K and N filter, but the car already had one
, my mistake, wasted 50 bucks
, just a begginer stanger
. then I removed the silencer also
. Then read how make my own cold air intake, kinda neat, can always say that I did it, more trouble than its worth though, so on and so forth, but to say the least, HORSE POWER IS ADDICTIVE
