Hello fellow members! I'm new here and very soon I plan to buy a Mustang GT. My only concern is which car would be the better but between the 2010 and 2011 GT models? Price is not a concern of mine. I want the 2011 but from the exhaust vids I've compared, the 4.6 sounds a lot better than the new 5.0 in my opinion. I've heard neither in person though. I also would like to know which engine has more potential for HP/TQ increases for the aftermarket parts and so forth. I plan on sending my mustang to Livernois Motorsports for forged internals also. Any information is greatly appreciated guys.

I'd agree on the exhaust sound part, that the 4.6 sounds more menacing and less hoity-toity euro-sophisticated.The 5.0 has a different firing order to the 4.6... that's probably why they sound different.
The 5.0, from tuner coverage seems to be very responsive to bolt-on mods, and even better than the GT500 5.4SC to forced induction, some tests show. The 5.0 heads are the best flowing Stang stock heads, better than the 5.4 four-valve.
With the plethora of available aftermarket exhaust setups, you may well be satisfied with the 5.0, sound-wise.

5.0 and don't look back! And why are you already thinking about a built motor?

No way would I consider a 4.6L after driving (and owning) a 5.0L.

Because this will be a weekend track car. I will only drive it during the spring and summer.

Is it because I was considering a 4.6 over a 5.0???

Okay I understand but the new 5.0's are pretty strong from the factory, depending on your goals a built motor might not be necessary.

Well my goals are 650+ Hp/Tq I don't know what kind of supercharger I want yet. It's between Whipple and ProCharger. I want to use this car as a daily driver in the spring and summer as well as take it to the drag strip on weekends. I want the car to run 9's but still be very streetable at the same time.
