Can't Downshift from 5th to 4th.

Like it says...

I built a T5 today based on a 86 transmission. I used parts from 4 different T5's spanning 3 revisions. Used 3rd from one, OD from another, the best syncro's from another, see where I am going here... reason is I have less then $100 in all of them, and I have many many spare parts.

But my problem is I can not downshift from 5th to 4th. I can go from 5th to 3rd, then to 4th, but not directly. Throttle does not help. I am also getting a gring going into 3rd, but I know that is syncro related.

Any ideas?

It in my 93 in the sig...

does not grind at all, from 4th to 5th its fine. But going from 5th to 4th, it just will not go. No grinds, no anything, It just will not go into 4th. If I go to 3rd first, it will go into 4th smoothly.
