Can't Figure Out One Bolt On Edelbrock Elbow And Explorer Intake

Ok so I am getting very upset. The explorer intake needs to go on asap so I can drive my car again. I just got from fedex today my summit 70mm TB and edelbrock sn95 elbow adapter. I have it oriented like in the following pictures. The FORWARD BOTTOM bolt is impossible to figure out. That one hole on the actual elbow is threaded. It tells you to drill that hole out on the actual intake with I think an 11/32. Then it says install a bolt from the rear of the manifold going up into the elbow adapter. WTF?! Even if I did drill it it does not look like the damn bolt will even go in because the explorer intake lacks the clearance there! This is so infuriating! The clearance from the elbow side is a nightmare. Even if I had a short enough bolt it would nt be long enough to thread into the manifold. I am so close to running this pos with 3 bolts and RTVing the shiznit out of it! Everyone says this elbow will work on the forums but I have never seen anyone mention how to actually deal with this bolt deal. Please help me out guys. I know someone has been here before! I honestly don't even think I can buy the right length bolt to both fit AND reach the elbows threaded portion!

Usually you attach this stuff with studs. Get a stud and thread it into the intake first and then spin the nut on. This is going into a 94/95 car right?

Yup 94-95. It came with studs for the TB but not elbow just bolts. To use a stud I need to drill out the threads on the elbow I guess.

Yeap...I have no clue why they would thread that hole though

may have to do like you guys have suggested and drill out the hole n the elbow and thread a carb stud onto the upper intake and then the elbow should slide over and I can put a nut on there. I guess I was jsut to tired to think straight. In the mean time I used some aircraft RTV from work that's the good red stuff. I am pretty confident it should work fine with no leaks. But if I do encounter one I will fix it the way I stated above. This swap has just been killing my sleep lol.

That elbow was probably made for an Edelbrock Intake to be installed on a '94/'95; that intake probably has a flange with the clearance to get a bolt in there.

Yup, Just drill it out the elbow and use a stud.

EDIT: It appears this is the case with the Edelbrock intakes. It also appears they're threaded like the factory intakes, so this is why they tell you to drill the intake threads out and use a bolt instead of studs.

I have the elbow from professional products.
All 4 holes of my upper manifold to elbow adaptor are studs with nuts.
I didn't have to drill anything.

Yes drill the elbow and stud the intake. they thread it "I think" because the other simular flowing intakes like the cobra and gt40 have the clearance. I myself used some cheap elbow off ebay and an explorer intake. When you stud it you have to start putting that bottom corner nut on first and tighten it as you slide it on, then worry about the other three. The only thing that sucks is that you have to guess the torque with a wrench and I hate doing that. Good luck man!

You could use it as an opportunity to do a Fox-style throttle body swap. I have read about people experiencing better throttle response just from the swap alone.

Well guys I finally got everything together and the RTV is workign like a champ. Car pulls much better than with stock intake and there are no leaks in that area at all. It's a temp thing tho as I need my car on the road. When I get a chnce to pull it back off I will for sure be removing the RTV and drill the elbow and install a stud
