I just bought a 1996 Lincoln Mark VIII, it has a bad oil leak due to a rusted out oil pan. But a new one is impossible to find because of that extra sump part on the pan. So i was wondering if an oil pan out of a 4v cobra would work. i can get one dirt cheap, but im not positive that it will fit or what that extra part on the lincoln pan is even for. Any info?

Are you using this motor in a lincoln??? cuz every 4.6/5.4 pan will fit it. I actually have a canton rear sump 7qt and windage tray NEW for a 4.6/5.4

The pan only looked like that for the lincoln because the k member on the lincoln didnt allow for much room.

Any modular oil pan should bolt right up (96-04). Even an oil pan from a 5.4 or a 2V will fit. I've got three sitting around if you need one, let me know...

Yea I dont plan on doing a swap with this motor, yet, just keeping it in the lincoln for a nice daily winter car. but as long as any oil pan from a mod motor would work that would make it much easier. as long as there is nothing that sits in that extra oil res lincolns have that cobras dont. that the only thing im worried about

Hmm, I don't remember the Mark VIII motor having an additional res but I'll check mine. In any case look at it this way, the Cobra engine has everything that the Mark VIII engine has. The K member is different tho. So as it was mentioned earlier, the difference in shape is probably for fitment. With that said the Cobra pan might not clear the k member...

Iv been searching forms and websites for hours and I find nothing but posts about how a lincoln viii pan will not fit in a cobra because of the k-memeber.. But not one post about a Cobra pan or even a mustang pan could be a replacement for the mark viii pan. as much as iv seen people have problems with rusted out pans and the replacements being so expensive there has got to be someone out there who knows lol. i got so desparate i texted that KGB thing and that said a mustang pan will fit but who knows where they got that info lol.

Well it's probably not worth taking the chance then. I mean, it would suck if you dropped the k member or lifted the engine and got the old one off just to find out the new one doesn't fit. Now I'm not trying to push a sale here but I do have one sitting here. If you want, make me an offer and I can get this thing on its way to you. I'll email you some pics if you like, let me know...
