I am thinking about installing a CAI on my '03 GT With the high humidty down here I really think the car isn't getting enough air.
I would prefer one with a plastic CAI that mounts outside the fender, but haven't been able to find one.
Suggestions?
Thanks,
Jason

I like the one from www.jlttruecoldair.com or www.densecharger.com. I have the densecharger but I like the one from jlt better.

the K&N FIPK doesn't mount outside the fender, which is what he's looking for. As far as performance gains from inside the fender to outside the fender, who knows in real life. On a dyno even with fans blowing you won't get the same effect as on the highway or drag strip.

You already own a good CAI, its called the stock rubber tubing and airbox. Just add a drop-in K&N with the silencer removed and your golden.

If you really must drop hard earned cash (stupidily), get a full FIPK from K&N.

i will say this....

Some people say pullies wont give you any horsepower, maybe 1-2rwhp.

People also say that the factory air intake is fine-for the most part i belive that.

But-just YESTERDAY-i added Stedda pullies, and FIPK2 to my combination. Then i went and dynoed the car to see the results. 8rwhp more than the last time i dynoed the car which was last friday.

Thats about what i was expecting anyways.

EDIT: before the FIPK i was using the factory airbox with a drop in K&N with the silencer removed.

Did you notice a gain on your butt dyno as well. Sometimes you cant really feel stuff, but im wondering if you actually felt something. I didnt feel anything when I just put in the K&N drop in filter

I just got rid of mine yesterday !

Dynoed before and after I lost 1 RWHP and 2 Ft-Lbs torque , I had to modifiy it to install the air filter right in front of the MAF sensor to get my HP and Torque back.

This is how it ended up by looking !

After that mod I had to zip tie it cause it was popping out of the throttle body.

I think the best mod for around $160.00 is a Underdrive pulley.

I gained 4 RWHP ( On a Mustang Dyno ) .

I just installed a Steeda CAI , I don't think I'll gain anything but it does look very good and the finish and quality is absolutly perfect !

Sorry no pics. maybe tonight !

The Roush Performance CIA is also "Plastic". They are usually listed on eBay. I know I have seen them lower than this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...tem=7912369549&category=33624&sspagename=WDVW...

In the past month, 1 sold for $140 by texmax4. I am not sure if he is a dealer since he has nothing listed right now.

Good Luck!

Cheers!

The Roush CAI is pretty sweet and it is plastic- I would recommend buying it from either roushparts.com or stage3motorsports.com as ebay can sell shady supplies.

Reasons to buy a CAI:

Looks

car shows (bling factor)

throttle response

2 HP

I have no regrets at all buying the Volant.
Fit like a glove and is functional.
Stock intake hose looked ghey on my car.

So its not a WASTE of money, gambling, smoking, drinking booze is a WASTE of money.

Get your priority's straight people !
