OK, I just installed the Maximum Motorsports clutch quadrant and firewall adjuster. I used a new Ford nonadjustable cable. Installation went smooth, much easier than I expected. The problem is I can't get it adjusted. The clutch won't engage at all. I tried it with the adjuster screwed all the way in, and with it screwed all the way out. The car is up on ramps and I can't get it to move. The clutch has 190,000 miles on it, but is not slipping at all. It was working fine with the factory quadrant. I thought it was about to go because one day it would shift fine and the next day it was hard to shift, then it would go back to being fine. Is there not as much adjustment in the MM unit as in the factory one? Am I going to have to just go ahead and replace the clutch?

Update - Well, I screwed the adjuster all the way back in, and was able to get it to engage. I guess I wasn't letting the pedal out enough before. It used to engage about an inch from the floor. Now you have to let way up on the pedal before it engages. The adjuster is all the way in so I guess when my clutch wears further I will have to replace it.

I think it is fine for now. It shifts like butter. I will have to get used to it letting out higher though. I was suprized that the factory quadrant and pawl looked brand new. The teeth didn't look worn at all. I think my problem was that the cable had stretched and there was a spot about 2 inches from where it attaches to the bell housing where the outer covering was worn through. I probably could have gotten away with just replacing the cable for now.
