as the title says i cant et the damn thing out. everything was going along smoothly for my cobra intake install untill i hit this snag. the little bolt seems to be rusted on there pretty good and i cant get it to budge. anyone have any tips on how to get this thing out?

Just take your time with it. Make sure you mark the distributor before you take it out. When I first tried to install my intake, I couldn't get the damn 50HO plate off the plenum and didn't have my drill with me so I had no way of getting it off. :nonono:

i finally got it off  i also had trouble with the 5.0ho intake plaque. i had the right sized star bits but they still stripped out so i drilled out the heads and poped the cover off that way. i think im gonna polish up the plaque, repaint it and hang it on my wall

Yeah, hope you marked it...I didn't, and my car's sitting outside on jackstands after I fought with it all night to get it back running.....grrrr if someone wants to add me to msn messenger to help me out on this one (I won't be working on it till tomorrow morning) I'd really appreciate it

You can get top dead center by taking out the number 1 spark plug, turning the motor until you feel air being pushed out of that cylinder and then turn the motor until the timing pointer is matched up with 0 on the dampner. Then you just drop in the Distributor so that the number one plug will be dead center top and line up the rotor with it. That's it. It should start up and then you can change your timing to a more suitable setting.

okay, did this...actually used the pencil method, but either way, cylinder is all the way up.

and then turn the motor until the timing pointer is matched up with 0 on the dampner.

So I'm doing this how? How am I turning the engine if the distributor's out?

I think this is where my problem is...really I'm just stupid about this, but I wanna learn it, so thanks for the help! :nice:
