Cant get serpentine belt back on

sorry to make another thread about this but I need to get this on immediately!
I cant get enough slack to get the serp belt on. I got the gatorback and what is the trick. I removed the tensioner to get the belt off, followed the directions to putting the new one on, and did the alt last why why wont it go on. is there something im missing. Everything is sitting well, I just go to pull the belt over the alt and I need like 2 inches or so !?

You removed the tensioner? Completely? That doesn't sound right. I might be wrong though, never done it on a Mustang.

well i searched how to do it everyone said loosen it and move it out of the way but when i did it still wasnt moving so it finally just popped off after continually losening it, then i put it back on after i had the belt around everything. The diagram i followed is below a few threads in "gator belt" Im talking about #7 i removed.

sounds like you have a tensioner problem. You should not have had to remove it or even loosen it up, just stick a 1/2 breaker bar in square hole and moved it to take tension off of belt.

yeah i feel stupid now. haha i went out there before that post and realized i didnt need to take the bolt off, so i got it all fixed. i feel stupid i didnt realize you could just put the 3/8 drive in the square hole to get it lose. Hey, im a newbie learning Thanks guys

Don't feel bad, everyone's gotta start somewhere. Get you a Haynes manual, it should help you in the future.
