Can't get these damn brake rotors off!

I need to take my front rotors to get them resurfaced, but I can't get them to budge. The caliper brackets came off with normal difficulty, but the rotors are STUCK. I sprayed PB Blaster around each stud and around the center of the rotor where it slides over the hub, and have beaten the hell out of them with a dead blow hammer and a 5 pound sledge w/ a block of wood on the rotor. I know somebody else has had this problem, how did you get them off? I did a search and couldn't seem to find the info I needed.

Some years they put a small clip over one of the lugs to keep the rotor on during the assembly line process.

Buddy did the same thing only to find that there are some rotors that actually have a nut holding them on. Yes, contrary to what the Haynes and Chiltons say and every Mustang expert says. Try prying on the cap in the center hub.

There is NO nut holding them on!! Just beat the rotor from top to bottom.....and hope for the best!

The nut holds the hub on the spindle. The rotor itself should slide off the lugs. There is no need to remove that nut.

The pre-94 Mustangs had an integrated hub/rotor unit that you had to take the nut out under the dust cap to remove it.

On the SN95 cars, the rotor is supposed to slide off.

CHeck for clips on the lugs and beat the rotor off.

I just did this a couple days ago... just pull the rotor right off... nothing is holding it in place. Use force if needed.

My bad...I stand corrected, that for the hub....Do your self a favor and anti-seize the back of the new rotors and were they locate around the O.D. of the hub... so as to not rust to the hub again...I always do that on brake jobs...makes dis-assy slick the next time around...

I stand corrected too. I just talked to my buddy and he said that he just needed to get a bigger rubber hammer.

I had the same problem. I had to use a torch and a bigass hammer. All I can say is..

stuck brake rotors? easy removal

I just replaced front rotors and pads on my 95 Mustang 3.8. The rotors were stuck hammer-proof. I googled and found a youtube video for Ford F150 trucks. Find the video and do the following exceptions to make it Mustang-worthy: 1) Use 7/16" bolts (as opposed to 1/2") x 2 1/2" lg. 2) Use Jam nuts because they are thinner. My rotors eased off no problem. I earlier did rear rotors and pads. On the 95, the cheap removal tool will not fit. Borrow the good tool from Advance Auto with no charge if returned inside 45 days.

Its that time of year again.

And no rotor is hammer proof... Your just not using a big enough hammer. I hit mine so hard on the focus i put a hole in it.

My sister has a contour I think it is. My bro in law had to break the rotors off in pieces. They fused to the hub from rust or my sisters crazy ass driving
